Black Minstrel Shows in Nineteenth Century 好色先生网站脢禄i

Dr. Allison E. Paynter is an Associate Professor of English and Coordinator of the English Department at Chaminade University of Honolulu. She is a performance poet and a budding actor who has been featured at venues in London, Edinburgh, New York, and Honolulu. Dr. Paynter teaches and publishes academic papers on a range of topics which include Women芒鈧劉s Literature with a focus on science fiction and fantasy, Victorian Literature and Poetry, Vodou in Haiti, 19th century African American and Caribbean women芒鈧劉s literature, and representations of the 芒鈧揃lack" body in pop culture.

In this talk, I will outline briefly black minstrel shows in 19th and 20th century America, then discuss Ernest Hogan芒鈧劉s intriguing lawsuit against the SS Miowera, one of the few successful cases against race discrimination heard in 好色先生网站脢禄i.
