Wai芒鈧渦la芒鈧渦la Stream Restoration Project Community Event

On Saturday, July 14 from noon to 3:00 pm the University of 好色先生网站芒鈧渋 Sea Grant College Program (好色先生网站芒鈧渋 Sea Grant) is hosting a free community event to showcase the completion of the Wai芒鈧渦la芒鈧渦la Stream Restoration Project in Waimea.

The project, funded by the 好色先生网站芒鈧渋 State Department of Health, Clean Water Branch with Section 319(h) funds from the Environmental Protection Agency, focused on the Wai芒鈧渦la芒鈧渦la Watershed which encompasses more than 18,000 acres of land, and is listed as a priority watershed for restoration by the state of 好色先生网站芒鈧渋 and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The watershed, which includes prime agricultural and conservation land, is under significant threats from nonpoint sources of pollution such as nutrients and sediment.

The restoration projects 好色先生网站芒鈧渋 Sea Grant completed aim to control erosion, improve the ecosystem health, and protect the coastal and coral reef environments.

At the event on July 14 the community will be able to see the restoration projects first-hand, which include a rain garden, different methods to stabilize the banks of the stream and control erosion, and native plant restoration.
