Identifying and evaluating threats to Pacific Island cetaceans

August 27, 3:30pm - 4:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Waikikik Aquarium

Join the Waikiki Aquarium for our monthly seminar series on Tuesday, August 27th with Kristi West, who leads the Marine Mammal Stranding Lab at the University of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվ‘i at Mānoa’s ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾i Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB).

The ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾ Stranding Lab responds to strandings and conducts cause of death investigations for all dolphins and whales that strand in the main ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾ian Islands and the U.S. Pacific Island territories.

We identify and evaluate threats to cetaceans and will share findings during this talk related to the discovery of infectious diseases and marine ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾ ingestion.

Our laboratory also aims to more broadly understand cetacean health in ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվ‘i and beyond through collaboration with our greater Pacific partners.
