SCEP Live Online: ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾i Youth Symphony Jazz Ensemble

ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾i Youth Symphony (HYS) is ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվ‘i’s only statewide orchestra program for youth, and a comprehensive community resource for orchestral music in ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվ‘i. Each year, HYS serves approximately 650 ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾, ages 7-18, from nearly 100 schools on different islands – and from all skill levels.

HYS expanded beyond classical music and invited ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾ to find their groove with HYS Jazz. Originating from The Combo program launched in 2018, HYS Jazz is now comprised of two Combo ensembles geared for intermediate and advanced ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾ who play guitar, bass, keyboards, piano, drums, sax, trumpet, and trombone.

The concert series is a joint effort between ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾ Manoa Outreach College, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾ Manoa Music Department, the East-West Center Arts Program, and Friends of Manoa Library.
