Honoring Alice Augusta Ball

The campus community is invited to honor and celebrate Alice Augusta Ball, the university’s first Black ��ɫ������վuate and a pioneering scientist who discovered an effective treatment for Hansen’s disease (leprosy) using oil from the Chaulmoogra tree.

Speakers will include ��ɫ������վ and community members who will pay tribute to Alice Ball.

February 28 was proclaimed as “Alice Augusta Ball Day” in ��ɫ������վʻi by Gov. David Ige in 2022 (Read the ��ɫ������վ News story)
