A Case for Conservation - Hybrid Pau Hana Talk

Veteran conservationist Suzanne Case will talk about "My Life in Conservation: From Nature Conservancy to the University of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøÕ¾i‘i" in a free, hybrid pau hana event on August 29.

Pupus will be provided from 5 p.m. for in-person participants, with the talk beginning at 5:30 for in-person and online attendees.


From aquatic resources to watershed protection, Case brings extensive experience in ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվ‘i environmental policy and practice to her latest role as inaugural director of the University of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվ‘i’s Office of Land and Ocean Conservation Futures.

Born in Hilo and trained as an attorney, Case spent 28 years with The Nature Conservancy and 7 years as chair of the ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվ‘i Board of Land and Natural Resources and director of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. She co-chaired the Sustainable ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվʻi Initiative; ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվʻi Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Commission; and ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúÍøվʻi Invasive Species Committee, and she served on the state Board of Agriculture and KahoÊ»olawe Island Reserve Commission.
