Doll-Making Workshop with Hansa Thapliyal

November 10, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Moore Hall Rm 319

Gudgudgudiya is a doll making workshop that I started conducting during the pandemic. With odds and ends, broken things, and the simplest tools, we learn to let our hands lead the way鈥攖ear, cut, smear, rub, join, forge, stick, stamp鈥e climb the trapeze and learn to trust that our imaginations will hold us when we leap. It always does. Make a playful gather of odds and ends, some shiny things, some bits of 鈥榬ubbish鈥 that are still lingering with you. This could be an old ear ring, an amazon package, a piece of cloth, a spool of thread, a piece of plastic, a useless saucepan, some odd unnamed object, in short, anything. Small large dull shiny, fallen leaves, sticks, straws, in short, anything. Make a small collection of such things and bring to the workshop. Also carry something to write with, something to color with (it could be paint, but it could also be an old makeup kit or haldi (turmeric) from the kitchen or鈥), something to tie with, something to cut with, hit with, hammer with, poke with, stitch with, cover with, wrap with, stick with? These will be your tools. They could be scissors and knives, hammers or simply your interpretation. Registration Required - Limited Spaces Available RSVP: forms.gle/YaSxAqrF4H9Xg1ni9 MONDAY, November 10, 2025 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm Tokioka Room Moore Hall Rm 319
